How to take a negative and turn it into a positive

So yeah, easy subject title, very easy concept, right? Take a situation that is a negative and turn it into a learning opportunity. I would cringe any time that my mom would say, “Teaching moment!” At the end of the day, as much as I hate to say it (not actually, I love you mom), she had a point.
